Presentation-Practice-Production Method

Preparing and presenting the PPP Method was not only an academic task but also a meaningful learning experience. During the process, we study deep into how lesson planning can support the development of students’ communicative competence. This experience allowed us to reflect on our future role as language teachers and to explore more effective strategies for promoting communication in the classroom

One of the most important strategies we learned was the importance of scaffolding communication. Through the PPP framework, we understood how learners benefit from gradual progression by first being exposed to a clear input (presentation). Then, practicing in a controlled context (practice) and finally, producing language more freely (production). This structure showed us that communicative competence develops through guided support and increasing autonomy. We also learned the importance of designing meaningful production tasks. Instead of just asking students to repeat structures, we recognized that communicative activities should simulate real-life situations and focus more on fluency rather than only accuracy. Additionally, we became more aware of balancing teacher talk time and student talk time. We also acknowledge that effective communication in the classroom requires creating opportunities for learners to actively use the target language rather than passively receive information.

Collaborating with each other significantly increased our understanding of the PPP Method. Through discussion and exchange of ideas, we were able to clarify misconceptions, compare points of view and share teaching examples. Explaining ideas to one another made us understand better the topic. When disagreements or misunderstandings arose, critical thinking and reflection took an important role within the discussions. Moreover, teamwork exposed us to diverse perspectives on how communicative skills can be developed. Some team members emphasized more on fluency-based activities, while others highlighted the importance of accuracy and structure. The exchange of ideas helped us see PPP not as a rigid or firm formula, but as a flexible framework adaptable to different teaching contexts.

The skills we developed during this experience will directly benefit our future teaching in several ways now that we feel more confident designing lesson plans that gradually lead students toward meaningful communication. Furthermore, this project allowed us to practice idea-organization, negotiation, responsibility-sharing, and constructive feedback; something that schools need teachers to do. Aside from

that, this experience encouraged us to be more reflective when it comes to teaching mindset.

Overall, preparing and presenting the PPP Method helped us to better understand how communicative skills can be developed through structured yet meaningful instruction. We learned new strategies for communication, designing effective activities and promoting student interaction. It also enhanced our comprehension and critical thinking and the skills we gained will positively influence our teaching practice.
